Choose Lists, Segments, or Individual Contacts

Understand the three mutually exclusive K2Mailer campaign audience paths and how recipient eligibility is enforced.

In the appCampaigns → Schedules → Audience

Choose one audience type per schedule

Lists
Select one or more tenant-owned lists. New schedules support up to 250 lists.
Segments
Select saved tenant-owned list or campaign-activity segments. New schedules support up to 25 segments.
Individual Contacts
Select explicit tenant-owned contact memberships. New schedules support up to 5,000 selected memberships.

The audience types are mutually exclusive

A single schedule uses Lists, Segments, or Individual Contacts. It does not combine all three modes in the same audience definition.

Eligibility is still checked after selection

Selecting a contact is not a promise that K2Mailer will send to that address. Campaign preparation and the final send path continue to enforce current membership, DOI, active state, global opt-out, suppression, hard-bounce, complaint, and other safety rules.

K2Mailer deduplicates eligible recipients while preserving deterministic list membership context for unsubscribe and consent behavior.

How saved audiences stay safe over time

  • Segments are resolved against current data when campaign preparation runs.
  • An Individual Contact that later becomes ineligible can remain visible as historical schedule context without becoming newly selectable.
  • A fully deleted historical direct-contact membership is skipped rather than making the whole campaign audience invalid.
  • Cross-tenant IDs and malformed stored audience definitions fail closed.
  • System-paused campaigns with a durable invalid-audience reason cannot be manually resumed through the normal status action.
