Build and use campaign audience segments

Create saved list-based or campaign-activity segments, validate their rules, and target them directly from a campaign schedule.

In the app→Contacts → Segments

List-based segments

List-based segments start from tenant-owned lists and can filter by email, membership status, format, source, custom-field values, subscription dates, and supported custom date fields.

For new segment creation, Unsubscribed and Bounced are excluded by default. Only loosen those controls when you have a specific non-sending operational reason to inspect those records.

Campaign-activity segments

Campaign-based segments use production campaign-stat activity such as opened, not opened, or clicked. Test schedules and test statistics are excluded from this production audience logic.

Action-specific filters are validated. Country restrictions are supported for opened activity and link restrictions for clicked activity; incompatible stored definitions fail closed instead of silently broadening the audience.

Use a saved segment as the campaign audience

A schedule can target saved Segments directly, so you do not need to copy segment results into a temporary list before every send. Segment membership is resolved when campaign preparation runs, using the current contact and compliance state.

Malformed, stale, or cross-tenant segment references are rejected. If an audience definition becomes invalid during preparation, K2Mailer fails closed rather than sending to a broader fallback audience.

Other segment actions

  • Copy matching contacts to another list once or keep copying new matches.
  • Move matching contacts once or keep moving new matches.
  • Export the matched audience.
  • Stop a keep-copying or keep-moving segment when it is no longer needed.
